Residencies & Commissions

Rommi has held numerous prestigious international residencies for organisations ranging from the British Council, to the BBC; The Florence Nightingale Museum to The Houses of Parliament. Rommi is both the inaugural Parliamentary Writer in Residence and Inaugural Poet in Residence for Keats’ House. Rommi was awarded a prestigious Hedgebrook Fellowship in the US and is a grateful recipient of the Elizabeth George Award.

Rommi was resident writer for the West Yorkshire Playhouse’s Burmantofts’ Stories’ project. The project worked with first-time performers and writers; through an interview process, Rommi harvested their stories as poem-monologues which they performed, fused with dance and music.

Salt Song was commissioned by Imove. It features Rommi’s original, narrative poem and libretto; a meditation of the permutations of the sea and its metaphors and mythologies. The piece, a fusion of spoken and sung word, was set to a live thirteen piece Jazz orchestral score.

Rommi is currently working on commissions for BBC Radio 3, The London Metroplitan Archive, The Poetry Library at the Southbank Centre, inspired by works from The Arts Council Collection and the ceramicist, Loretta Braganza’s brand new exhibition, Clay Journeys.
